POSITION SUMMARY

As the Procurement Manager, you will play a dual role: firstly, executing strategic management of Waev's primary commodity expenditures, particularly focusing on electrical and electronic components. This involves negotiating with major suppliers on volume, pricing, and delivery timelines, leveraging the combined purchasing power of Waev's brands to optimize SKU rationalization and spending. You will also lead small to medium-scale resource initiatives aimed at enhancing supply chain efficiency and facilitating new product launches. Secondly, you will oversee the tactical procurement team, ensuring alignment between supply and demand. This entails managing inventory levels through purchase orders, daily vendor interactions to adapt to production schedule changes, and monitoring vendor performance metrics.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership:

  • Manage team resources effectively, focusing on talent development and performance improvement.
  • Conduct daily team meetings to ensure KPI targets are met and address any issues promptly.
  • Exemplify professionalism in all interactions, both internally and externally.
  • Communicate clearly across all levels of the organization, especially in a dynamic environment.

Supplier Management:

  • Oversee both short-term and long-term procurement strategies.
  • Issue purchase orders to support daily production needs while maintaining optimal inventory levels.
  • Provide suppliers with regular forecasts to balance production requirements and lead times.
  • Strengthen supplier relationships through innovative supply mechanisms.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and engineering teams regarding new component releases and design modifications.
  • Monitor supplier performance using key performance indicators.

Sourcing Strategy:

  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the supplier landscape relevant to the commodities managed.
  • Possess technical knowledge of electrical components pertinent to the electric vehicle industry.
  • Manage the commodities roadmap and ensure optimal supplier selection based on value propositions.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams to onboard new suppliers and technologies.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Preferred degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience in a technical field.
  • Minimum of 8 years in procurement, commodity management, and vendor negotiations.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to navigate complex situations to make informed business decisions.
  • Strong analytical skills, proficient in spreadsheet and data analysis.
  • Effective negotiation and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, adaptable to various audiences.
  • Proficient in project management, driving key initiatives within the supply chain.
  • Ability to build productive relationships with suppliers.
  • Competence in interpreting technical documentation and specifications.
  • Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems and production planning.
