Established in 2021, Waev has positioned itself at the forefront of low-speed vehicle innovation, with GEM being the first commercially-produced, street-legal vehicle of its kind in the United States. Our Taylor-Dunn brand has been a trusted name in burden carriers and personnel transport since 1949, while Tiger has been providing heavy-duty towing solutions since 1981. Our headquarters and manufacturing facility are located in Anaheim, California.

Position Summary

As the Sourcing Manager, you will play a critical role in two primary areas: the strategic management of Waev's core commodity expenditures, particularly focusing on electrical and electronic components, and the leadership of the tactical procurement team to ensure alignment between supply and demand. Your responsibilities will include negotiating pricing, volume, and lead times with major suppliers, leveraging the combined purchasing power of Waev's three core brands to optimize SKU rationalization and spending. Additionally, you will oversee small-to-medium resource initiatives aimed at enhancing supply chain efficiencies and facilitating new product introductions.

  • Exemplify professionalism in all interactions, both internally and externally, even during challenging negotiations.
  • Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, delivering clear and consistent messages in a dynamic environment.

Supplier Management:

  • Manage both short-term and long-term procurement strategies:
  • Issue purchase orders as necessary to support daily production needs while maintaining optimal inventory levels.
  • Provide suppliers with regular forecasts and guidance on critical components, balancing production requirements with lead times and inventory goals.
  • Strengthen supplier partnerships through innovative supply mechanisms such as vendor-managed inventory and just-in-time strategies.
  • Coordinate new component releases and design modifications with suppliers and engineering teams, ensuring smooth transitions.
  • Monitor supplier performance using key performance indicators such as on-time delivery and lead times.

Sourcing Strategy:

  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of the supplier landscape and the technological requirements of managed commodities.
  • Possess technical knowledge of electrical components relevant to the electric vehicle industry, including motors, controllers, and batteries.
  • Own the commodities roadmap and oversee the selection of key suppliers, ensuring a balanced value proposition in terms of price, service, and quality.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams to onboard new suppliers and technologies, ensuring the best options are selected for immediate and future needs.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience in a technical field.
  • Minimum of 8 years in procurement, commodity management, vendor negotiation, and advanced knowledge of MRP and lean principles.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Adept at navigating ambiguity and making informed business decisions.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools to support procurement strategies.
  • Exceptional negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of tailoring messages to diverse audiences.
  • Proficient in project management, driving key initiatives to enhance supply chain operations.
  • Ability to cultivate productive relationships with suppliers and represent Waev professionally.
  • Capable of interpreting technical documentation and specifications.
  • Fluent in MRP/ERP systems and production planning methodologies.

Work Environment:

This position is based in a fast-paced office and manufacturing environment.
