General Manager Job Description

At The Cordish Companies, we're seeking a highly skilled General Manager to lead our country bar and restaurant operations. As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the venue, ensuring exceptional customer service, and driving revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operations Management: Control the day-to-day operations of the venue, adhering to company policies and guidelines.
  • Customer Service: Maintain a professional company image, ensuring restaurant and bar cleanliness, proper uniforms, and appearance standards.
  • Vendor Management: Manage service contracts with outside vendors, including consulting agreements and entertainment vendors.
  • Financial Management: Prepare Ops Statements, review financial reports, and take appropriate actions to control profit and loss.
  • Cash Handling: Ensure daily deposits are made, safe counts are conducted, and venue cash is secured at all times.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain cost of goods sold, nightly comps, and safe audits by overseeing inventory counts.
  • Staff Management: Recruit, interview, and hire team members; train, supervise, and motivate; take disciplinary action and terminate when necessary.
  • Training and Development: Ensure all staff is properly trained and equipped to effectively carry out their job functions.
  • Safety and Security: Ensure a safe working and guest environment to reduce the risk of injury and accidents.
  • Community Representation: Represent the venue in a professional manner to the community-at-large, including local businesses, civic organizations, and media.
Requirements:
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required; 4-year college degree or equivalent with coursework in restaurant management preferred.
  • Experience: At least 5 years' experience in restaurant/nightclub management, multi-unit management a plus.
  • Language: Must speak fluent English; other languages preferred.
  • Skills: Good people management skills, communication and listening skills, proven ability to lead a team, and flexibility to adapt to change.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to carry or lift items weighing up to 75 pounds, move about the venue safely and efficiently, handle food and objects, and bend, stoop, and kneel.
