We are seeking a skilled, motivated, and proactive Accounting Specialist to enhance our public accounting division. This role encompasses comprehensive bookkeeping, payroll management, accounting support, and various administrative responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generating monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including cash flow statements for diverse clients and sectors.
  • Conducting bank and credit card reconciliations.
  • Understanding the interplay between payroll processing and year-end financial reporting.
  • Reviewing accounts for accuracy and calculating retained earnings.
  • Providing assistance to clients regarding accounting, payroll, and basic software challenges.
  • Preparing quarterly and year-end payroll tax submissions.
  • Supporting tax, accounting, and audit teams with client report generation.
  • Creating annual information returns (1099 & 1096).
  • Filing monthly/quarterly sales and use tax returns, as necessary.
  • Facilitating accrual to cash conversions, when applicable.
  • Identifying opportunities for additional services to enhance client satisfaction.
  • Managing fixed asset records, including additions and disposals, and updating depreciation schedules.
  • Reconciling balance sheet accounts with supporting documentation.
  • Developing loan amortization schedules.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Familiarity with basic accounting principles in a business context is preferred.
  • Understanding of general accounting concepts, particularly accrual accounting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.

Software Proficiency:

  • Required: Technology skills in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Preferred: Experience with QuickBooks, QuickBooks Online, and/or QuickBooks Certified ProAdvisor.
  • Familiarity with internal software such as Fixed Asset Solutions, Accounting CS, Caseware Working Papers, and GoFileRoom.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in accounting or equivalent experience in accounting and bookkeeping.
  • Prior experience in a public accounting environment.
