Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified, part-time Adjunct Instructor of Culinary Arts to teach courses in the Culinary Arts Department. The successful candidate will be focused on student success and support the college's mission by facilitating student learning in and outside of the classroom through high-quality instruction and academic support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide effective instruction and relevant learning opportunities that promote student engagement and retention.
  • Stay current in the field and in teaching methodology.
  • Create meaningful assessments and evaluate student work according to departmental standards.
  • Maintain accurate student records, including course attendance to enhance retention and success.
  • Be available for students during office or lab hours for assistance.
  • Provide regular grade updates through Moodle gradebook.
Requirements
  • Associate Degree from a regionally accredited institution in a related discipline or demonstrated competencies in teaching specific culinary courses.
  • ServeSafe Manager Certification.
  • Able to manually demonstrate Culinary practical skills, and teach all culinary topics.
  • Dresses professionally and arrives on time for classes.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships within an education setting; plan, organize, and implement programs and services; and provide tracking and assessment to ensure quality, required.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Post-secondary teaching experience, preferably in a community college environment.
  • Minimum of two years of culinary industry experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years teaching experience in a community college setting.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the Department Head, co-workers and students.
  • Understanding and commitment to the mission and principles of community colleges.
