Alamance Community College is seeking a qualified Adjunct Instructor to teach horticulture courses. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, assessing student learning outcomes, and maintaining a safe and effective learning environment.
Key Responsibilities- Teaching and Instruction
- Teach horticulture courses to students in a variety of formats, including day, evening, and hybrid classes.
- Develop and implement hands-on projects to reinforce course objectives.
- Provide effective instruction to students, using a variety of teaching methods and technologies.
- Student Support
- Support student learning outside of the classroom by holding regular office hours and providing additional resources.
- Respond to student inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Course Management
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other important data.
- Submit reports and evaluations as required by the college.
- Professional Development
- Stay current with developments in the field of horticulture and incorporate best practices into teaching and course design.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
- Education
- Associate's degree (or higher) from a regionally accredited institution in Agricultural Science, Horticulture, Agricultural Education, or a related field.
- Experience
- Minimum of 2 years work experience in an arboriculture-related job, such as climber or plant health care specialist.
- Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Computer literacy and proficiency in educational technologies.
- Teaching Experience
- 2 years of higher education teaching experience.
- Certifications
- NC Pesticide License.
