Overview of the Position

This role is pivotal in supporting the Company's SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of SEC and US GAAP standards, financial statements, and the associated disclosure obligations. The individual will frequently collaborate with essential members of the corporate accounting and finance departments, legal teams, human resources, and external auditors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage in all facets of quarterly and annual SEC submissions, which includes overseeing the completion of and/or drafting business descriptions, MD&A sections, footnote disclosures, and other necessary disclosures; compiling and reconciling work papers; integrating feedback from colleagues and liaising with business leaders to ensure precise filings; completing GAAP and SEC disclosure checklists.
  • Contribute to special projects as assigned, with opportunities to gain insights into complex transactions such as debt restructurings, acquisitions, and revenue recognition challenges.
  • Deliver critical analysis and audit support, ensuring timely and accurate responses to requests.
  • Conduct independent research on accounting issues and communicate findings either verbally or through written memos to relevant parties within the Company as needed.
  • Interpret matters related to disclosures and incorporate new GAAP/SEC reporting requirements into Company filings.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement through process enhancements, control improvements, automation tools, and generative AI.
  • Benchmark existing and new Company disclosures against other registrants.
  • Assist in preparing financial information for quarterly Investor Relations documents (8-K, scripts, investor presentations, etc.).
Qualifications Required

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with 150 credit hours of coursework

• 5+ years of experience in accounting

• Adaptability in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment

• Strong knowledge of US GAAP

• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to think independently

• Highly detail-oriented and organized

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Proficient in building and leveraging professional relationships

Travel Requirements:

Candidates in the Boston area may need to travel to the corporate office quarterly.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in SEC Reporting

• Solid understanding of SEC rules and regulations

• Background in Big 4 or public company settings

• Active CPA license

• Familiarity with automation tools such as Alteryx or UiPath, PeopleSoft GL, Hyperion Financial Management, and/or Workiva software

The base pay range reflects the anticipated low and high end of the pay scale for this position. Actual compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Base pay is one aspect of WEX's total compensation package, which includes eligibility for commission in sales roles and bonuses in non-sales roles based on applicable plans. Pay Range: $75,000.00 - $99,000.00
