This position is integral to a collaborative team, taking charge of the heart catheterization laboratory suite. Responsibilities include operating diagnostic fluoroscopy and various cardiac apparatus, monitoring patient vitals, executing routine calculations, circulating, and assisting the physician during procedures as needed. You will prepare the procedure rooms, equipment, and patients for the interventions, acting as a liaison to the hospital's Radiation Safety Officer (RSO).

Educational Requirements
Required: Associate degree in Radiologic Sciences.
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Sciences.
Work Experience
Required: None.
Preferred: Two years of experience as an allied health professional.
Certifications
Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) within six months of hire.
Registered Radiologic Technologist in the state of practice and registration from The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Proficient computer skills for data entry and information retrieval.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
- Proficiency in Windows-style applications and various software specific to the role.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with experience in performing complex tasks that may pose risks to patient welfare, including the ability to identify equipment malfunctions.
- Interpersonal skills necessary for effective and courteous interaction with a diverse group of internal and external visitors in high-pressure situations.
- A genuine interest in learning new procedures.
- Knowledge of and compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory radiation requirements.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including 24/7 availability, weekends, holidays, and on-call duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the team in patient setup and preparation prior to procedures, as well as post-procedure cleanup, utilizing safe patient transfer and positioning techniques.
- Document procedures accurately in logs to ensure proper billing and charge capture.
- Operate radiographic fluoroscopy equipment to capture diagnostic images related to coronary artery and peripheral vascular diseases.
- Monitor hemodynamic status during procedures and communicate findings to the physician.
- Ensure safe delivery of radiation doses to patients while minimizing exposure to staff.
- Transmit, archive, and retrieve digital images using picture archiving and communication systems (PACS).
- Maintain quality control standards by optimizing diagnostic imaging and performing regular maintenance on fluoroscopy equipment.
- Adapt communication and behavior to meet the needs of specific patient populations, ensuring respect for privacy and clarity in explaining services or procedures.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
