Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Operations Unit Specialist to join our team at the Texas Department of Public Safety. This role will be responsible for performing routine consultative and technical assistance work in the Training Operations Division, with a focus on inventory management and equipment procurement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor, develop, and implement an equipment/inventory program to ensure compliance with divisional policies and procedures.
  • Provide consultative and technical assistance to maintain equipment/inventory, including purchasing, record-keeping, and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist in developing policy and procedure manuals for the Training Operations Division and Project and Compliance Management Unit.
  • Coordinate with internal program staff to explain and provide technical assistance on agency and program requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including preparing inventory records, reports, and specialized projects.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience performing progressively complex inventory management work, including purchasing, record-keeping, and regulatory compliance.
  • Working knowledge of TXDPS, State, and Federal regulations, legislation, guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to exercise poise, tact, diplomacy, and establish and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Organizational and prioritization skills, with ability to effectively prioritize in a multi-demand and constantly changing environment.

A DPS employee who is selected for a position in the same salary group and state title as their current position will be transferred with no salary change. A DPS employee who is selected for a position in their current salary group with a new state title may receive an increase of no more than 3.4% over their current salary regardless of posted salary.
