Position Overview:

The Linux Systems Administrator plays a crucial role in supporting LAN/WAN and help desk administration tasks, which include network upkeep, technical support, and security in collaboration with the Technology Infrastructure team. The primary goal is to leverage infrastructure technology expertise and established policies to manage data, resolve issues, and perform administrative duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive project plans, conduct impact assessments, address high-impact issues/projects, and implement solutions to restore services.
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) following service restoration.
  • Design testing methodologies, complex workflows, reporting systems, and assist in automating repetitive processes.
  • Provide technical and strategic guidance to team members.
  • Review requirement documents, define hardware specifications, and update processes and procedures as needed.
  • Ensure ongoing adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Oversee applications related to the overall operating system.
  • Conduct research related to projects.
  • Operate with a limited level of direct supervision.
  • Exercise independent judgment and autonomy.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for senior stakeholders and team members.
  • Assess risks associated with business decisions, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations while maintaining the firm's reputation and safeguarding its assets.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Linux system administration.
  • In-depth knowledge of RedHat Linux operating systems and related tools.
  • Proficient in scripting languages such as Bash, Perl, Python, or others.
  • Familiarity with automation tools like Ansible and/or Chef.
  • Understanding of how specialization within the area contributes to business operations and awareness of competitors' offerings.
  • Ability to develop projects for designing metrics, analytical tools, benchmarking activities, and best practices.
  • Experience working with both virtual and in-person teams, and the ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Experience in a financial services or large, complex global environment is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical abilities.
  • Capability to convey technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
  • Clustering experience is preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
