Key Responsibilities- Server Design and Configuration: Collaborate with project managers and infrastructure personnel to review and approve new server designs that meet Low Latency Linux standards.
- Server Build and Tuning: Build, configure, and tune servers to meet application requirements.
- Hardware Requirements and Process Updates: Review requirement documents, define hardware requirements, and update processes and procedures as necessary.
- Storage and Cluster Management: Set up, configure, manage, and troubleshoot Veritas volume manager and VCS cluster systems.
- Disaster Recovery and Data Center Migration: Plan, participate, and support activities related to disaster recovery testing, data center migration, and document results.
- Security and Compliance: Apply vulnerability patches with approved patch bundles to ensure compliance.
- Firmware Deployment: Provide firmware deployment support for HP ILO and IDRAC.
- Automation and Scripting: Automate systems administration work using Ansible and shell scripts.
- Issue Resolution and Project Delivery: Coordinate with various teams to resolve issues and deliver projects on time.
- Root Cause Analysis: Provide root cause analysis post restoration of service.
- Testing and Automation: Design testing approaches, complex processes, reporting streams, and assist with the automation of repetitive tasks.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Flexibility and Availability: Willingness to work after hours, weekends, or be on-call if needed.
- Research and Development: Conduct project-related research.
- Risk Assessment and Compliance: Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding clients and assets.
- Issue Handling and Escalation: Handle issues and escalations, as well as resolve production problems, reporting to management on status and technical matters.
- Process Improvement: Plan and implement improved processes, backup and recovery plans, and uniform methodologies and standards.
- Linux and Cloud Expertise: Good understanding of RedHat Linux 7/8, CoreOS, and OpenShift.
- Network and Domain Services: Good understanding of Network and Domain Services (AD, DNS).
- Scripting and Automation: Ability to create simple automation scripts using Ansible or other scripting languages like Python, Bash.
- Network Protocols and Troubleshooting: Good understanding of network protocols and tools used to troubleshoot issues.
- Vendor Technologies: Good to have and a willingness to learn internal and vendor purpose-built technologies required in support of the High Frequency trading platform.
