As a Family Preservation Worker, you will collaborate with a team of social workers and family support professionals to provide essential services to families across mid-Michigan, including various counties. In this role, you will directly engage with the community to ensure families have access to necessary resources. A background in working with children and families, along with a bachelor's degree in social work or a related field, is essential. You will also need a valid driver's license, car registration, and auto insurance. Reliability, a responsible demeanor, compassion, and a commitment to excellence are key attributes for success in this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement the MiFT program's service model, focusing on a strength-based, non-deficit approach.
- Assist families in securing essential services, including housing, transportation, and home maintenance.
- Provide skills training in areas such as parenting, self-advocacy, and effective communication.
- Offer short-term counseling and crisis intervention to families in need.
- Coordinate with external resources to arrange necessary outpatient counseling, medical care, and educational support.
- Document services provided, including service plans and progress reports, within designated timeframes.
- Prepare cases for termination conferences, recommending follow-up services as appropriate.
- Maintain regular face-to-face contact with families based on individual needs and contractual obligations.
- Conduct follow-up evaluations of families at specified intervals post-service.
- Transport clients as necessary using your own vehicle.
