Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Athletic Training Assistant to join our team at Alfred University. The successful candidate will assist in the overall injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, short-term and long-term rehabilitation, education, and counseling of student-athletes in consultation with and under the supervision of the Team Physician(s), Head Athletic Trainer, and other qualified medical personnel.

Responsibilities
  • Provide daily injury prevention, on-site evaluation, and treatment of student-athletes as directed by the Head Athletic Trainer and Team Physician(s)
  • Consult with the Team Physician(s) for guidance on the treatment of injured student-athletes
  • Determine a student-athlete's ability to practice and/or compete in consultation with the Team Physician(s)
  • Report the status of injured student-athletes to the coaching staff as directed
  • Collaborate and maintain a good working relationship with the strength and conditioning staff regarding strength and conditioning, flexibility, nutrition, supplements, and ergogenic aids, injury prevention, exercise technique, and rehabilitation of student-athletes
Requirements
  • Formal education: a bachelor's degree in athletic training is required; a master's degree in athletic training or a related field is preferred
  • Certification by the Board of Certification and licensure by the State of New York or eligibility for licensure by the State of New York
  • A minimum of two years of collegiate athletic training experience is required
Additional Responsibilities
  • Assist with the compilation, input, and organization of daily medical records
  • Share the responsibility of maintaining and organizing the Athletic Training Room (ATR) file system, including medical records, insurance claims, and medical bills in compliance with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and Empire 8 rules and regulations
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with the coaching staff, athletic administration, and other personnel to ensure the health and well-being of student-athletes. The position requires a valid U.S. driver's license and the ability to work evenings and weekends.
