Job Description

The Associate Director of Athletics Communications and Branding will report to the Director of Athletics Communications and Marketing. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position. This role plays a key role in the messaging, branding, and celebration of Alfred University Athletics, its student-athletes, coaches, and athletic department, through various digital platforms and game-day operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Media Relations: Handle day-to-day media relations, event coverage, and game-day statistics.
  • Content Creation: Prepare news releases, write articles related to assigned sports, design and produce digital game-day programs, create video content and graphics for the athletic website and social media channels.
  • Brand Management: Ensure the correct usage of Alfred University Athletic brands, marks, and logos.
  • Team Management: Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate athletic communications graduate assistants, student workers, and game-day workers.
  • Event Production: Direct production of live-stream athletic events for assigned sports.
  • Recruiting Materials: Design recruiting materials and recruiting-related digital graphics.
  • Awards and Honors: Nominate student-athletes for awards and post-season honors.

Requirements:

  • A master's degree in communications, journalism, sport management, business, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 4 years' experience in collegiate and/or professional athletics communication.
  • Strong graphic design and digital media background.
  • Proficient in Presto Stats, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro, and other pertinent software.
  • Knowledge of working with Sidearm websites.
  • Knowledge of live-stream production.
  • Knowledge of NCAA Division III rules.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Organizational skills, initiative, and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to think creatively and engage a variety of stakeholders.
  • Ability to mentor college student workers for personal and professional development.
  • Ability to build relationships and work effectively with others.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment that includes night and weekend hours.
  • Ability to travel with teams occasionally.
