About the Role

Raytheon is seeking a highly skilled Principal RF Design Engineer to join our team in the development of advanced Radar Receiver, Exciter, and Transmitter products. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing cutting-edge RF systems and components, working closely with interdisciplinary teams to bring innovative solutions to market.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Design and develop transmitters, receivers, and exciters, as well as RF circuits and components.
  • RF Circuit Design: Design and optimize RF circuits, including chains of components and individual parts such as filters, limiters, and couplers.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with interdisciplinary teams, including power, digital, and mechanical engineers, to bring innovative solutions to market.
  • Schematic Capture and RF Routing: Create and manage RF schematics and routing designs.
  • Transition to Production: Ensure smooth transition of designs to production, including testing and validation.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or Advanced Degree in a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 8 years of prior work experience or 5 years with an Advanced Degree.
  • Skills: Experience with Microwave/RF system, subsystem, and/or component analysis, design, and/or test, as well as electromagnetic simulation tools (e.g., HFSS, ADS, CST, and/or Mentor Graphics' Xpedition) and analytical tools (e.g., MATLAB).
  • Security Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance, with U.S. citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical Writing and Presentation: Experience in technical writing and oral presentations.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills with ability to proactively identify alternate solutions to overcome difficult technical challenges.
  • Technical Background: Background in designing for manufacturability, producibility, and cost constraints, including yield and margin analysis, as well as experience in technical areas such as cascade analysis and/or frequency planning, filter design and fabrication, circuit card assembly and fabrication, high-speed data converter test/characterization, and low-noise RF source design and test experience.
