About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal RF Design Engineer to join our team at Raytheon, where you will play a critical role in the design and development of cutting-edge Radar Receiver, Exciter, and Transmitter products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop transmitters, receivers, or exciters, leveraging your expertise in RF/Microwave system theory and design.
  • Optimize RF circuits, including chains of components and individual parts, to ensure high-performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including power, digital, mechanical, and other experts, to drive innovation and solve complex technical challenges.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including schematic capture and RF routing.
  • Provide technical support during the transition to production and support to production activities.

Requirements:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years' of prior work experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years' of prior work experience.
  • Experience with Microwave/RF system, subsystem, and/or component analysis, design, and/or test.
  • Proficiency in electromagnetic simulation tools (e.g., HFSS, ADS, CST, and/or Mentor Graphics' Xpedition) and analytical tools (e.g., MATLAB).
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued Secret security clearance is required post-start. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience translating system performance and operation specifications into hardware requirements, design, and test specifications.
  • Background in designing for manufacturability, producibility, and cost constraints, including yield and margin analysis.
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to proactively identify alternate solutions to overcome difficult technical challenges.
  • Experience in technical/proposal writing and oral presentations.
  • Technical background in any of the following areas:
    • Cascade analysis and/or frequency planning
    • Filter design and fabrication
    • Circuit card assembly and fabrication
    • High-speed data converter test/characterization
    • Low Noise RF source design and test experience
