Radiochemistry Research Scientist

The Stanford Blood Center is dedicated to advancing healthcare through innovative research in radiochemistry. The Research Scientist will play a pivotal role in the formulation and implementation of clinical and preclinical research objectives. This position involves collaboration with the facility manager to address the department's radiochemistry program requirements, focusing on both routine and innovative radiotracer development, production, and troubleshooting.

QUALIFICATIONSREQUIRED:
- Ph.D. or equivalent in radiochemistry or a closely related scientific discipline, complemented by a minimum of three years of relevant experience.
- In-depth knowledge of radiochemistry, particularly in 18F/11C or radiometal labeling techniques and troubleshooting.
- Proficient in setting up, operating, maintaining, and calibrating automated and semi-automated radiopharmaceutical manufacturing and quality control systems.
- Extensive experience with radiotracer quality assurance methodologies, including High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC), gas chromatography (GC), and radioactivity detection.
- Ability to adhere to established radiation safety protocols while executing approved radiochemistry production processes.
- Collaboratively provide data to support Chemical Manufacturing and Control (CMC) documentation for Investigational New Drug (IND) submissions to regulatory authorities.
- Strong computer skills, with experience in databases and cloud-based systems, and the capacity to quickly learn various scientific software applications.
- Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
DESIRED:
- Expertise in operating, optimizing, and troubleshooting automated radiosynthesis platforms, preferably the GE FX N and/or FX C series.
- Previous experience with cyclotron operations is advantageous.
- Familiarity with USP or standards for Radiopharmaceutical Drug Production.
- Experience in supervisory roles, particularly in training students in experimental procedures.
