Job Summary

Malace HR is seeking a highly skilled Fleet Operations Manager to oversee the maintenance and repair of our fleet of vehicles. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of our fleet, including preventive maintenance, repair, and replacement of vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assign daily work priorities for vehicle maintenance and repair.
  • Manage labor, parts, and supply costs within budgetary guidelines.
  • Communicate with operations to understand and support daily fleet needs.
  • Supervise staff in meeting all corporate standards and regulations.
  • Ensure quality control of all vehicle repairs.
  • Write repair orders, review records, and maintain vehicle files.
  • Evaluate and prioritize necessary repairs from driver defect reports.
  • Conduct shop safety meetings and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Order parts and supplies, control inventory, and evaluate tool and equipment needs.
  • Train mechanics in technical skills required for daily tasks.
  • Understand, teach, and monitor best management practices for fuel, hazardous waste, and storm water management.
  • Set standards for repair quality and shop cleanliness.
  • Ensure efficient utilization of labor and resources.
  • Responsible for security of the building.
  • Assist in developing bids for bulk purchases and new vehicles.
  • Participate in evaluating bids.
  • Maintain standards of environmental compliance and best management practices.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma (GED) or equivalent.
  • AA degree in automotive technology or related field preferred.
  • Graduation from vocational institute and journeyman level work experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Experience in repair of all vehicular equipment.
  • Experience in preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and operation of various tools and equipment.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, read and comprehend technical manuals, and communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of state and federal DOT regulations and environmental compliance regulations.
  • Valid State Driver's License with Intermediate or Combination endorsement (commercial driver's license required).
  • May possess Class A/B CDL with PAX endorsement and no air brake restriction.
  • Possess a set of basic automotive mechanic hand tools and storage cabinet.
  • Must meet DOT inspector qualification criteria and DOT qualifications for brake inspector.
  • Experience and demonstrated knowledge in logistics organization with ability to prioritize needs and demands.
