Position Summary

The role entails overseeing the secure and efficient development, design, and execution of designated capital projects, ensuring completion within the stipulated timeline and budget while achieving outcomes that meet their intended purpose. Critical factors include safety, quality, operational efficiency, maintainability, and adherence to environmental regulations. This position also involves contributing to troubleshooting initiatives, supporting operational processes, and driving continuous improvement efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee projects from initial concept through to mechanical completion and commissioning/qualification of new or modified process and utility equipment installations.
  • Collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to accurately define project specifications and costs.
  • Deliver project and equipment engineering support, along with troubleshooting, to fulfill all production and customer requirements.
  • Develop comprehensive Business Case Justifications and Requests for Proposals for capital projects.
  • Supervise external contractors engaged to execute projects within agreed timelines and budget constraints.
  • Facilitate adequate training for operational personnel on new and modified equipment to enhance safety and operational efficiency.
  • Initiate studies and propose modifications, replacements, or additions to the Facilities Manager to support more efficient manufacturing or operational systems.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned that align with the employee's skills and capabilities.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in chemical or mechanical engineering or a related field is required.
  • 1-5 years of experience in project design and management/execution is essential. Experience in construction management is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with bioconjugation equipment or facility design is a plus.
  • A thorough understanding of technical concepts, practices, and procedures in bulk pharmaceutical manufacturing or other regulated industries is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, and Visio.
  • Ability to interpret repair manuals, specifications, drawings, P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and schematics.
  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal and organizational abilities are essential.
  • Proficient technical writing skills are required.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Lean/Six Sigma experience or certification is beneficial.
  • Capability to modify and update drawings in AutoCAD is an advantage.
