The Immune Monitoring and Discovery Platform (IMDP) at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center serves as a pivotal resource, delivering extensive cell, tissue, and molecular immunoassays to propel groundbreaking research in immuno-oncology (IO). We are in search of a dedicated professional with a strong background in laboratory oversight to manage technical support and resource allocation for the IMDP.

Key Responsibilities of the Laboratory Operations Supervisor:

  • Collaborate closely with leaders in immunophenotyping, imaging, and immunogenomics to address technical challenges and streamline laboratory operations, including compliance with regulatory standards (IBC, IACUC, IRB, EHS).
  • Work alongside IMDP technology experts to validate, enhance, and implement advanced technologies, acting as a subject matter authority on immune monitoring laboratory protocols.
  • Oversee quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) for all laboratory instruments, including maintenance contracts and routine servicing.
  • Manage access to services, monitor usage, and oversee billing processes.
  • Supervise and mentor IMDP technical personnel.
  • Engage in the planning, design, execution, data collection, analysis, and interpretation of research projects.
  • Facilitate the procurement of new equipment and negotiate vendor quotes, ensuring cost-effective purchasing of antibodies and other consumables.
  • Collaborate with administrative teams to establish and update service recharge rates for IMDP offerings.
  • Participate in regular laboratory upkeep, including ordering and inventory management of supplies, along with other related tasks.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Successful completion of a background check is necessary; candidates may be required to undergo a pre-employment physical, including drug screening.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant biological or health science field.
  • 4-8 years of relevant experience is preferred.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with flow cytometry.
  • Knowledge of immunology or cancer biology.
  • Experience in molecular biology and/or cellular biology.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Capability to apply academic and practical knowledge in biological and health science research.
  • Prior experience in laboratory management is essential.
