Role Summary:

The Clinical Laboratory Specialist is responsible for conducting laboratory analyses. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of the clinical implications of test results, proficiency in operating laboratory instruments, and the ability to report findings accurately and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts all clinical testing within the designated department.
  • Accurately records and reports test results in a timely manner.
  • Performs and interprets quality control tests in accordance with established protocols.
  • Maintains high standards of quality assurance.
  • Adheres to safety protocols, including Universal Precautions and proper safety equipment usage.
  • Identifies issues by following established procedures and implements necessary corrections.
  • Consults with supervisors or managers when criteria for decision-making are not available, and makes final decisions in their absence.
  • Coordinates and assesses new reagents, procedures, and equipment as directed by supervisors or managers.
  • Conducts routine and specialized maintenance of laboratory equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or a related field.
  • Licensure/Certification: Certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent; eligibility for certification is required.
  • Experience: Preferred but not mandatory.
  • Strong communication skills are essential.
