Key Responsibilities:
The Medical Technologist is responsible for conducting laboratory tests. This role requires an understanding of the clinical significance of results, monitoring and operating laboratory instruments, and accurately reporting results in a timely manner.
- Conducts all clinical testing in the designated department.
- Records and communicates test results accurately and promptly.
- Performs and interprets quality control testing in accordance with established protocols.
- Maintains high standards of quality assurance.
- Adheres to established safety protocols, including Universal Precautions and proper use of safety equipment.
- Identifies problems using prescribed strategies and implements necessary corrections.
- Consults with supervisor/manager when criteria for decisions are not available; acts to determine final decisions in their absence.
- Coordinates and assesses new reagents, procedures, and equipment as requested by supervisor/manager.
- Performs routine and specialized maintenance of laboratory equipment.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or a related field.
- Licensure/Certification: Certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent; eligibility for certification required.
- If applicable, must maintain active certification.
- Experience: Preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong Communication Skills.
