Key Responsibilities:

The Medical Technologist is responsible for conducting laboratory tests. This role requires an understanding of the clinical significance of results, monitoring and operating laboratory instruments, and accurately reporting results in a timely manner.

  • Conducts all clinical testing in the designated department.
  • Records and communicates test results accurately and promptly.
  • Performs and interprets quality control testing in accordance with established protocols.
  • Maintains high standards of quality assurance.
  • Adheres to established safety protocols, including Universal Precautions and proper use of safety equipment.
  • Identifies problems using prescribed strategies and implements necessary corrections.
  • Consults with supervisor/manager when criteria for decisions are not available; acts to determine final decisions in their absence.
  • Coordinates and assesses new reagents, procedures, and equipment as requested by supervisor/manager.
  • Performs routine and specialized maintenance of laboratory equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or a related field.
  • Licensure/Certification: Certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent; eligibility for certification required.
  • If applicable, must maintain active certification.
  • Experience: Preferred but not mandatory.
  • Strong Communication Skills.
