Job Responsibilities:
The Medical Technologist is responsible for conducting laboratory tests. This role requires a thorough understanding of the clinical implications of results, effective monitoring of laboratory instruments, and accurate reporting of results in a timely manner.
- Conducts all clinical testing within the designated department.
- Records and communicates test results with accuracy and efficiency.
- Executes and interprets quality control tests in accordance with established protocols.
- Maintains high standards of quality assurance.
- Adheres to established safety protocols, including Universal Precautions and proper use of safety equipment.
- Identifies issues by following prescribed procedures and implements necessary corrections.
- Consults with supervisors/managers when criteria for decisions are not available. In their absence, takes initiative to determine final decisions.
- Coordinates and assesses new reagents, procedures, and equipment as directed by supervisors/managers.
- Performs routine and specialized maintenance on laboratory equipment.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or a related field.
- Licensure/Certification: Certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent; eligibility for certification is required.
- Must maintain active certification if applicable.
- Experience: Preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong communication skills.
