Job Description:

The Pediatric Therapy Specialist is responsible for delivering care that is appropriate, efficient, and effective in meeting the needs of patients requiring occupational therapy across various settings including hospitals, outpatient clinics, home health, mental health, skilled nursing facilities, or community-based environments.

Principal Responsibilities:
1. Deliver therapy to patients.
2. Generate a therapy diagnosis by collecting patient data and conducting assessments.
3. Design, implement, and adjust therapeutic interventions.
4. Educate patients and families on treatment goals.
5. Establish improvement levels and determine the necessary time to achieve those levels.
6. Utilize re-examination to assess whether predicted outcomes are achievable and modify as needed.
7. Tailor the selection of tests, measures, and therapeutic interventions to the patient's age.
8. Document and report service charges.
9. Ensure the provision of safe patient equipment and maintain a safe work environment.
10. Delegate appropriate tasks within the care plan.
11. Supervise therapeutic programs and activities conducted by aides.
12. Coordinate care with interdisciplinary referrals or other practitioners.
13. Engage in performance improvement and process enhancement activities for the department.
14. Support and promote new services as needed.
15. Provide ongoing feedback to improve departmental services.
16. Develop and promote new and existing programs as requested.
17. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
- 0 to 2 years of experience as an occupational therapist
- Licenses/Certifications:
- Licensed Occupational Therapist (MN Department of Health required if providing services in Minnesota upon hire)
- Licensed Occupational Therapist (WI Dept of Safety & Professional Services required if providing services in Wisconsin upon hire)
- BLS Tier (Basic Life Support)
- Multisource certification required within 60 days
- Valid Driver's License required upon hire
- MN and WI residents must obtain a valid driver's license in their state of residence within 60 days of employment if providing services for Home Care and Hospice

Physical Demands:
- Medium Work: Lifting weight up to 32 lbs. occasionally (Allina Safe Patient Moving Policy), up to 25 lbs. frequently.
