Job Overview

In the Advanced Demonstrators division, you will collaborate with the Commercial Engine Project & Engineering teams to spearhead the development of GE's next generation of products. This division is responsible for achieving functional, business, and overarching company goals in relation to the successful implementation of advanced engine demonstrator initiatives (including the CFM Hydrogen Demonstrator) and other technical matters. The position emphasizes Systems Engineering integration within the aero-thermal and controls domains, focusing on Systems Performance Operability and Transient dynamics. This role offers significant autonomy, necessitating high levels of operational judgment and independent decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Primary Duties
  • Lead the integration of Aero Thermal & Controls while coordinating with global engineering discipline teams.
  • Oversee the development and management of cross-functional, technology-driven programs. Manage interfaces with contractors, suppliers, customers, and internal teams. Ensure effective resource and budget allocation/integration in collaboration with program Operations, influencing programs to meet customer Critical to Quality (CTQ) metrics.
  • Utilize judgment to make decisions or resolve complex issues in operational/product management, technology, Aero Thermal & Controls, or engineering. Approach existing solutions with a fresh perspective. Leverage technical expertise for data analysis to support recommendations, drawing from multiple internal and limited external sources.
  • Serve as a resource for less experienced colleagues. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource needs. Communicate complex or sensitive information effectively to build consensus. Develop persuasion skills to influence others on topics within the field and program scope.
  • Enhance specialized knowledge in the discipline. Act as a best practice/quality resource, staying informed about the latest technical advancements in the area. Contribute to strategy and policy development, ensuring delivery within the area of responsibility.
  • Contribute to Weekly Operating Rhythm (WOR) and Monthly Operating Rhythm (MOR) metrics based on inputs from multiple internal and external customers.
  • Coach, promote, and lead lean behaviors, principles, and tools across operational or functional areas. Drive cultural transformation resulting in significant improvements in operational business metrics.
  • Represent the program to both internal and external customers, requiring strong communication, presentation, and interface skills to ensure accurate messaging and status updates.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Engineering, with expertise in at least one discipline: Turbo Machinery Aero Dynamics, Thermal Systems, Controls & Engine Performance.
  • 10 years of experience in gas turbine engineering.
  • Prior experience working with global cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree.
  • Experience in two or more disciplines: Turbo Machinery Aero Dynamics, Thermal Systems, Controls & Engine Performance.
  • Passionate about propulsion and sustainability.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with internal and external partners.
  • Proficient in communicating concisely and appropriately with senior leadership teams.
  • Demonstrated problem analysis and resolution skills.
  • Proven ability to lead programs/projects.
  • Skilled in documenting, planning, marketing, and executing programs.

  • Familiarity with commercial engine design requirements.
  • Experience with Smartsheet.
