Job Summary

This is a challenging role within the Commercial Engine Project & Engineering teams at GE Aviation, where you will work on launching the company's next generation of products. As a Staff Engineer - Systems Integration, you will be accountable for functional, business, and broad company objectives as they relate to the successful execution of advanced engine demonstrator programs and other technical subjects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Systems Integration: Own the integration of Aero Thermal & Controls across global engineering discipline teams, ensuring seamless coordination and collaboration.
  • Program Management: Develop and manage cross-functional, technology-led programs, managing interfaces with contractors, suppliers, customers, and internal functions. Allocate resources and budgets in cooperation with program Operations, influencing programs to meet customer Critical-to-Quality (CTQ) requirements.
  • Operational Judgment: Use your expertise to make decisions or solve complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, technology, Aero Thermal & Controls, or engineering. Take a new perspective on existing solutions, using technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience, leading small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explain difficult or sensitive information, working to build consensus and developing persuasion skills to influence others on topics within your field and program scope.
  • Specialized Knowledge: Develop specialized knowledge in your discipline, serving as a best practice/quality resource. Stay aware of the latest technical developments in your area, contributing towards strategy and policy development and ensuring delivery within your area of responsibility.
  • Metrics & Reporting: Contribute to Weekly Operating Rhythm (WOR) and Monthly Operating Rhythm (MOR) metrics from multiple internal and external customer inputs.
  • Culture Transformation: Coach, drive, and lead lean behaviors, principles, and tools across an operational or functional area, driving cultural transformation resulting in a step-change in operational business metrics.
  • Communication & Representation: Represent the program in front of both internal and external customers, requiring strong communication, presentation, and interface skills to ensure accurate reception of messaging and status.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in Engineering within at least one discipline: Turbo Machinery Aero Dynamics, Thermal Systems, Controls & Engine Performance.
  • Additional Requirements: Prior experience working with global cross-functional teams, with a strong preference for experience in two or more disciplines: Turbo Machinery Aero Dynamics, Thermal Systems, Controls & Engine Performance.
Desired Characteristics
  • Master's Degree: A Master's degree in a relevant field is highly desirable.
  • Discipline Expertise: Experience in two or more disciplines: Turbo Machinery Aero Dynamics, Thermal Systems, Controls & Engine Performance.
  • Passion for Propulsion & Sustainability: A strong passion for propulsion and sustainability is essential.
  • Strong Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Global Teamwork: Ability to communicate and coordinate clearly with internal and external partners, as well as communicate concisely and appropriately with both internal and external senior leadership teams.
  • Problem Analysis & Resolution: Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems, as well as lead programs/projects.
  • Project Management: Established project management skills, including the ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Mentorship & Leadership: Passionate about giving and receiving mentorship, with the ability to guide and influence others.
  • Process Orientation: Demonstrated process orientation in approach to work, with the ability to document, plan, market, and manage programs.
  • Commercial Engine Design: Exposure to commercial engine design requirements, with problem analysis and resolution skills.
  • Smartsheet Experience: Experience with Smartsheet is highly desirable.
