Position Summary: The Budget Analyst will report directly to the Provost and Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs. This role is essential in optimizing resource utilization within the Division of Academic and Student Affairs (ASA) by identifying shared needs and eliminating redundant expenses. The analyst will play a key role in strategic planning for growth and efficiency within ASA, while also ensuring compliance with accreditation standards through meticulous budget planning and assessment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Budget Development and Oversight: Engage in the annual budget creation process for ASA, collaborating with department leaders to formulate realistic budget forecasts based on historical data and funding sources. Monitor expenditures throughout the fiscal year, providing variance analyses and necessary adjustments.
  2. Financial Analysis and Reporting: Conduct thorough analyses of budget data to uncover trends and identify opportunities for cost savings. Prepare comprehensive financial reports for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  3. Support and Guidance: Offer financial expertise to academic departments regarding budget management and reporting. Facilitate training sessions for faculty and staff on budgetary policies and procedures, promoting a culture of financial literacy.
  4. Additional Duties: Assist in monitoring grant proposals and budgets, conduct research on the financial implications of new initiatives, and maintain budget forecasting tools.

Organizational Relationships: The Budget Analyst will work closely with the Provost and VP for Academic and Student Affairs, as well as collaborate with various departments to align financial strategies with the college's mission.

Performance Expectations: Success in this role is measured by the achievement of agreed-upon objectives, effective collaboration with the administrative team, and adherence to performance standards.

Qualifications:

  1. Education: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  2. Skills and Abilities: Strong analytical capabilities, effective communication skills, and proficiency in financial software, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  3. Experience: A minimum of 2-3 years in budget analysis, ideally within a higher education context.
