Job Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Inventory Planner to join our team in Minneapolis. As an Inventory Planner, you will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing inventory for our dog toys and treats. You will be responsible for forecasting, purchasing, logistics coordination, and ensuring smooth communication between our manufacturing facilities and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inventory Forecasting
    • Analyze sales data, historical trends, and market demand to forecast inventory needs.
    • Collaborate with sales, marketing, and production teams to anticipate changes in demand.
    • Use forecasting software/tools to ensure optimal inventory levels across all product lines.
  • Purchasing
    • Manage the procurement of raw materials and finished goods to meet production schedules.
    • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials.
    • Monitor and negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms with vendors to optimize costs.
  • Logistics Coordination
    • Oversee inbound and outbound logistics to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of products.
    • Coordinate with transportation and warehouse partners to track shipments and manage inventory flows.
    • Negotiate and monitor freight rates and specific loads.
    • Address any logistics-related issues, such as delays or shortages, to maintain smooth operations.
  • Factory Communication
    • Serve as the key liaison between the factory, procurement, and sales teams to communicate inventory needs and production schedules.
    • Ensure production schedules align with inventory levels and customer demand.
    • Address any factory-related issues or changes in production timelines to maintain efficiency.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Monitor stock levels to minimize overstock and stockouts.
    • Conduct regular inventory audits and manage reordering processes.
    • Implement best practices to optimize inventory turnover and reduce excess holding costs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, finance, business, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in inventory planning, demand forecasting, or a related role.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in inventory management software.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work cross-functionally with other departments.
  • Experience in manufacturing or the pet products industry is a plus.
