Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accounting Administrator I (Supervisor) to join our team at the State Controller's Office. As a key member of our Local Government Programs and Services Division, you will play a critical role in promoting transparency, accountability, and fiscal responsibility in local governments across the state.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise a team of professionals in the Local Government Policy Section, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful completion of legislative and accounting-related policy work.
  • Collaborate with the section manager to develop and implement policies and procedures that promote sound financial practices and compliance with state-mandated programs.
  • Work with SCO's advisory committees, Commissions, and other working groups to provide input and guidance on accounting standards and legislative proposals.
  • Train and develop staff on policy-related work, reviewing and analyzing proposed accounting standards and legislative proposals to provide comment on their impact on local governments and SCO.
  • Represent SCO at various work group meetings with local government officials and staff, utilizing diplomacy and effective communication techniques.
  • Evaluate and assess staff performance to determine needed training and development opportunities.
Requirements
  • Strong working knowledge of financial, government, and GAAP/GASB accounting functions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate diplomatically and effectively.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and direct staff in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Experience with public speaking in front of a large group of professionals.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs.
