Role Summary:

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is in search of a skilled Principal Quality Engineer to contribute to our operations in Baltimore, Maryland.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, adapt, and uphold quality assessment and control systems and protocols for processing materials into semi-finished or finished products.
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Design and implement methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment. Analyze inspection and testing processes, conduct quality assurance tests, and perform statistical analyses to evaluate costs and responsibilities for products or materials that fail to meet established standards.
  • Conduct audits of quality systems to identify deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure that corrective measures comply with reliability standards and that documentation meets all requirements.
  • May focus on areas such as design, incoming materials, production control, product evaluation, reliability, inventory management, and/or research and development as they pertain to product or process quality.
  • May hold certifications in lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with 5 years of industry experience in areas such as Design Engineering, Production/Manufacturing, or Quality Engineering; or 3 years with a Master's degree.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, leadership capabilities, and the confidence to present to upper management regularly.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Possession of a Secret Clearance.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting.
  • Experience with SAP/MES transactions.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in project management or as a project lead.
  • Experience in facilitating effective Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA).
  • Active DoD top secret clearance.
  • Green/Black Belt Certification in Lean Six Sigma.
  • Familiarity with data analytics and statistical analysis techniques.
  • Experience with tools such as Microsoft Excel, Minitab, Tableau, or similar for statistical analysis.
  • Knowledge of Drive for Excellence (DFX), Zero Defects Program (ZDP), and supplier quality concepts.
  • Understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and RCCA techniques.
  • IPC-A-610 Certified IPC Specialist (CIS) and/or MIL-STD-883 Certified.
  • Familiarity with IPC-A-600, 620, IPC-J-STD-001, Mil-Perf-38534/35, and Mil-Std-750.
  • Experience with ISO9001 or AS9100 Quality Management Systems and First Article Inspections (FAI) AS9102.

Salary Range: $93,000 - $139,600
This salary range serves as a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers various factors when determining base salary offers, including the scope and responsibilities of the position, as well as the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.
