ABOUT THE ROLE:

In this position, you will be responsible for the management of financial aid processes, including awarding, adjusting, and canceling financial aid, as well as federal and institutional verification, loan application certification, refund processing, and providing guidance to students and their families while promoting financial literacy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee all elements of financial aid award processing from initiation to disbursement, including packaging, verification completion, adjustments, and cancellations.
  • Ensure timely closure of files and manage Authorization Failure reports to facilitate the disbursement of all aid in compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations.
  • Engage with students and borrowers to ensure the accuracy of documents and actions required for the timely disbursement of funds. This includes communication via email, postal mail, and phone.
  • Review award packages for precision, prepare award letters for distribution, and manage all related correspondence.
  • Certify eligibility for student and parent loans.
  • Process advance and refund requests for all financial aid.
  • Manage weekly reports and submit them to the team.
  • Submit Professional Judgment information in accordance with appeal findings and update award packages as necessary.
  • Provide counseling to students, parents, and staff regarding federal financial aid regulations, awarding practices, student loans, budgeting basics, and financial literacy, along with SAIC policies.
  • Assist colleagues as needed.
  • Participate in the training of new staff members.
  • Attend workshops and conferences relevant to the field.
  • Engage in meetings, webinars, and other training sessions as assigned.
  • Stay informed about federal, state, and institutional policies and regulations through various sources, including webinars, newsletters, and policy manuals.
  • Support mandatory SAIC Admissions events, new student orientations, graduations, and other school events as required, which may include evenings and weekends.
  • Recommend improvements on policies and procedures, form content and design, office operations, and customer service.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate's degree required.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in student accounts and/or financial aid preferred.
  • Experience with federal, state, and institutional financial aid awarding, loan certification, and federal verification preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail are essential.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft is preferred.
