Facilities Maintenance Supervisor

Job Summary
The Custodial Supervisor II is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the custodial department within Allen ISD.
Responsibilities
- Plan, assign, and supervise the work of subordinate custodians to ensure efficient and effective cleaning services.
- Manage and participate in cleaning, grounds, and facilities maintenance activities, including the operation of the heating and cooling system.
- Instruct and train custodial staff on proper cleaning procedures, equipment use, and safety protocols.
- Establish work schedules, motivate employees, and resolve informal complaints and grievances.
- Report on employee work hours and performance, and initiate disciplinary action as needed.
- Conduct daily inspections to ensure maintenance of prescribed standards in plant equipment, property, and grounds.
- Requisition and distribute equipment, materials, and supplies.
- Perform and/or oversee preventive maintenance, adjustments, and minor repairs to HVAC, electrical, and heating systems, plumbing, windows, and other equipment.
- Supervise and participate in snow removal, and ensure proper safety and security precautions are observed.
- Direct activity setup and assist school and community groups utilizing the building.
- Transport and empty large trash containers, and move furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed.
- Inspect buildings for pests and meet with maintenance and contractor personnel to plan repairs.
- Train the workforce to meet job requirements and prepare exceptional individuals for advancement.
- Manage or make minor building and equipment repairs, and perform related work as assigned.
Requirements
- Thorough knowledge of institutional building cleaning and plant and grounds maintenance methods, materials, and equipment.
- Ability to plan and supervise the work of a moderate to large staff of custodians.
- Ability to keep accurate records and prepare accurate reports.
- Ability and skill to perform minor repairs incidental to building maintenance related trades.
- Ability to establish and maintain acceptable relations with faculty, students, and the public.
- Skill in using a buffer and general tools necessary to make minor repairs to the building and equipment.
Qualifications
- Graduation from high school or GED, supplemented by considerable experience in custodial and facilities work, including supervisory experience.
- National Executive Housekeeping Association Certification (safety, chemical control, Asbestos Awareness Training Certificate) is preferred.
Work Environment
The Custodial Supervisor II will work in various weather conditions, be exposed to dust, fumes, and potential physical hazards, and require frequent use of safety clothing and equipment.
