Job Summary:

Massachusetts General Hospital is seeking a skilled Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our facilities. The successful candidate will supervise a team of electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, and utility mechanics to ensure the uninterrupted flow of utilities and the continuous operation of the plant's mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule and assign personnel to perform routine maintenance tasks and respond to mechanical and CAS alarms.
  • Provide orientation and on-the-job training in building systems and infrastructure.
  • Assure communication between shifts by overseeing the use of electronic log books and work order systems.
  • Supervise the operation and maintenance of air filtration equipment and oversee labor and material costs.
  • Coordinate work internally and with other departments to minimize disruption to hospital operations.
  • Distribute tools and stock, and maintain necessary inventory and accountability.
  • Ensure all employees' training is up to date.
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of building systems and infrastructure.
  • Completion of high school and possession of a valid MA state license in electric, HVAC, or plumbing.
  • Three to five years of experience as a licensed tradesman.
  • Knowledge of mechanics, tool usage, and pneumatics, and ability to read blueprints.
  • Physical ability to climb stairs, ladders, and walk almost constantly.
  • Interpersonal skills to exchange information with other personnel.
  • Some computer skills required.

Work Conditions:

  • Frequent exposure to extreme dust, dirt, fumes, and outside elements.
  • Occasional exposure to moderately severe hazards.
  • Subject to being called in for emergencies.
  • Compliance with hospital rules and standards.
