The Production Maintenance Mechanic at North Coast Seafoods plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our seafood manufacturing plants.

They are responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing equipment and machinery, working under the supervision of the Facilities Maintenance Manager.

This position requires proficiency in the use of hand and power tools, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with other factory mechanics.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Troubleshooting machinery to identify and resolve issues
  • Performing preventative maintenance to prevent equipment failures
  • Replacing parts of machines as needed to ensure optimal performance
  • Testing and adjusting equipment to meet performance specifications
  • Ensuring the workspace is clean and safe for employees
  • Maintaining and repairing conveyor belts
  • Performing electrical work, including electric motor replacement and basic industrial wiring and troubleshooting
  • Conducting mechanical work, such as bearing replacement, gearing, sprockets, and roller chains, and belts

Requirements for this role include:

  • 3+ years of experience in industrial maintenance or line mechanics
  • Experience with packaging and/or bagging equipment is preferred
  • A diverse background in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing experience is preferred
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
  • Great attention to detail
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

Additional requirements include:

  • Ability to lift 30-50 pounds
  • Work up to a 10-hour workday, standing or walking most of the day
  • Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling
  • Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching
  • Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals
  • Exposure to temperatures
  • Ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • Ability to work Monday-Friday, with weekends as needed
  • Ability to use tools and equipment, including knives or box cutters, pallet jacks, and fork-lifts
