About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plant Operations Director to lead our manufacturing site and drive business growth. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of plant operations, including safety, quality, cost, and delivery objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Meet Manufacturing Objectives: Ensure the plant meets key performance indicators related to safety, quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Ensure a Safe Working Environment: Implement safe work practices, employee awareness programs, and proper 5S and housekeeping procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Project and Plan Plant Resources: Develop and implement plans for personnel, capital equipment, facilities, and new program requirements to ensure optimal plant performance.
  • Capacity Planning: Assess and update plant sales forecasts, populate corporate molding, painting, and assembly capacity tools, and ensure plant manufacturing operations adhere to Summit Lean Manufacturing System (SLMS) practices.
  • Lead New Product Launches: Engage in product development, ensure plant preparation for successful launches, and facilitate teamwork with corporate engineering, sales, and materials functions.
  • Manage Plant Staff: Provide leadership to plant staff managers, conduct daily staff meetings, and ensure clear assignment of responsibility for issues.
  • Ensure Compliance: Ensure plant compliance to SPI systems and procedures, including IATF 16949 Quality standard, ISO 14001 Environmental standard, and corporate standardization initiatives.
  • Talent Development: Lead plant talent development initiatives to train and develop high-potential employees for growth within SPI.
  • Represent Corporate Management: Understand and represent corporate management in matters of company philosophy, quality ethics, and personnel policies.
  • Manage Plant Personnel Activities: Manage overall plant personnel activities, including hiring, promotion, demotion, transfers, and disciplinary actions.
  • Manage Plant Customer Relationships: Ensure appropriate SPI to customer contact relationships are maintained.
  • Ensure Plant Compliance: Ensure plant compliance to all local, state, and federal government regulations and reporting requirements.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 Years Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience at a technical or management level, with knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures, budgeting and costing, quality control procedures, and human resource management techniques.
  • Education and Skills: 4-year degree or 7 years of progressive experience in a manufacturing environment, with the ability to gather and synthesize information.
  • Travel Requirements: Less than 5% travel required.
