Position Summary:
Responsible for operating a forklift to move, locate, relocate, stack, load and unload merchandise. Repairs and maintains facilities as instructed. Handling, moving, and storage of hazardous waste containers, response to spills, inspection of containers, and assisting with proper waste disposal. The distribution center is a logistics based department, and as such we are required to potentially work 15 hours of overtime per week, depending on the workload
Essential Functions:
Safely operate forklifts or any other power equipment to complete various tasks and projects assigned. Ensure inbound and outbound products are accurate and free of damage. Efficiently move products from storage to other locations in the warehouse, as well as loading and unloading trucks. Follow safety and health procedures including goggles, gloves, and other apparatus required for the safe completion of the job. Maintain plant facilities, tools and other items used in the performance of the employee’s duties. Follow the appropriate Hazmat clean-up and disposal procedures and immediately report all spills to supervisor. All duties must be performed in a safe and efficient manner. Any unsafe working conditions must be reported to supervisor and corrective actions must be taken before proceeding with job. Fabricate, repair and maintain any equipment used in manufacturing processes if requested to do so by superiors. Ensure all warehouse loads for the day are complete regardless of the hours of operationQualifications:
High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) and/or two to four years related Minimum 2 years’ experience operating a forklift Forklift certification required Must possess a valid driver’s licenseSkills & Abilities:
Computer Skills: Have basic computer skills. Efficiently navigate a web browser, follow online instructions, type and use a mouse Customer Service Skills: Meet internal and external commitments, respond promptly to customer needs, and solicit customer feedback to improve service Work Ethic: Be dependable, trustworthy, truthful, and credible in the workplace. Display a sincere desire to provide service or assistance, follow instructions, and take responsibility for own actions. Show a commitment to doing the best job possible. Be a team player, and work together collectively to get everything done in a timely manner and at an industrial pace. Physical Abilities: Lift and carry up to 100 pounds in various packaging. Tip and move 55 gallon drums, weighing up to 600 pounds, with the use of a drum dollyWork Environment:
Chemical manufacturing environment inside and outside of metal buildings. Employee could be faced with working in temperature extremes. Must be able to work in a chemical odors environment. Able to lift and carry 100 pounds. Manual dexterity required for operating machinery. Machinery and tool operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, hearing protectors work boots, and hardhats. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted. Helpful to be able to drive a forklift safely.
