About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Plant Operations Director to lead our manufacturing site at Summit Polymers. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for directing and coordinating all plant operations to achieve safety, quality, cost, and delivery objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Meet Manufacturing Objectives: Ensure the plant meets key metrics related to safety, quality, cost, delivery, and financial performance.
  • Ensure a Safe Working Environment: Implement safe work practices, employee awareness, and proper 5S and housekeeping to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Project and Plan Plant Resources: Plan and manage plant resources, including personnel, capital equipment, facilities, and new program requirements.
  • Capacity Planning: Assess and update the plant sales forecast, populate corporate molding, painting, and assembly capacity tools, and ensure plant manufacturing operations adhere to Summit Lean Manufacturing System (SLMS) practices.
  • Lead New Product Launches: Engage in the product development process, ensure plant preparation for successful new product launches, and promote the utilization of root cause problem-solving using Practical Problem Solving (PPS).
  • Manage Plant Staff: Conduct daily staff meetings, clearly assign responsibility for issues, require departmental action plans, and ensure the Plan-Do-Check-Act methodology is utilized.
  • Ensure Plant Compliance: Ensure plant compliance to SPI systems and procedures supporting IATF 16949 Quality standard and ISO 14001 Environmental standard.
  • Lead Talent Development: Develop high-potential employees for growth within SPI and understand and represent corporate management in matters of company philosophy, quality ethics, and personnel policies.
  • Manage Plant Personnel Activities: Manage overall plant personnel activities, including hiring, promotion, demotion, transfers, and disciplinary actions.
  • Manage Plant Customer Relationships: Ensure appropriate SPI to customer contact relationships are maintained and provide necessary resources to protect and maintain the facility at all times.
  • Ensure Plant Compliance to Regulations: Ensure plant compliance to all local, state, and federal government regulations and reporting requirements.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience at a technical or management level, with knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures, budgeting and costing, quality control procedures, and human resource management techniques.
  • Skills and Abilities: Possess the ability to gather and synthesize information.
Travel Requirements

This position typically requires less than 5% travel.
