Position Summary: We are looking for a motivated early-career Hardware-In-the-Loop (HITL) Engineer to play a vital role in the validation and testing of satellite systems through advanced simulation and emulation methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with system engineers and stakeholders to establish testing requirements and objectives.
  • Create detailed test plans and protocols for hardware-in-the-loop assessments.
  • Design and set up test environments utilizing simulation and emulation technologies.
  • Identify and integrate necessary test equipment, interfaces, and instrumentation for HITL evaluations.
  • Conduct hardware-in-the-loop tests in accordance with established test plans.
  • Monitor and interpret test outcomes, ensuring data integrity and reliability.
  • Diagnose and resolve any anomalies encountered during testing.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to address identified issues.
  • Develop and maintain simulation models and emulators to accurately reflect satellite systems.
  • Configure and program testing apparatus, including sensors and communication interfaces.
  • Establish and validate real-time simulation environments for satellite subsystems.
  • Work alongside software engineers to create automation scripts and tools for testing.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting:
  • Examine test data, discern trends, and produce insightful analyses.
  • Compile comprehensive test reports, detailing observations and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to relay test findings and contribute to system enhancements.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Enhance HITL testing methodologies and processes for greater efficiency.
  • Stay informed on the latest industry advancements in HITL testing.
  • Participate in R&D initiatives aimed at improving HITL testing capabilities.

Qualifications:

  • U.S. Person status is essential for access to export-controlled data.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline; a Master's degree is advantageous.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in hardware-in-the-loop testing, ideally within the aerospace or satellite sectors.
  • Proficient in simulation and emulation tools (e.g., Simulink, LabVIEW, OPAL-RT) and real-time software platforms.
  • Understanding of satellite systems and subsystems, including communication, power, and control systems.
  • Experience in creating and implementing test environments using simulation models.
  • Skilled in programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, or C/C++.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with diverse teams.
  • Ability to work autonomously, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a dynamic testing environment while achieving results.
