As part of our dedicated team of child-care compliance inspectors, you will work collaboratively to monitor and assess child-care facilities throughout Texas.

Responsibilities include conducting inspections of facilities, investigating child-care sites and residences, providing training to child-care providers, and organizing pre-application meetings for prospective operators of child-care facilities.

Key Duties:

Perform regular monitoring of licensed and registered child-care facilities to ensure compliance with established standards and promptly address any discrepancies.

Responsibilities include timely completion of inspections, managing waivers and variances, overseeing background checks, and facilitating permit renewals.

Investigate complaints, incidents, and violations of minimum standards in licensed child-care establishments and homes, ensuring adherence to regulations and policies.

Assess applications for new child-care facilities, making licensing decisions in accordance with regulatory guidelines.

Identify potential risks and recommend enforcement actions to protect the welfare of children in regulated child-care centers.

Provide training and technical assistance to child-care providers regarding minimum standards, organize provider meetings, and facilitate relevant training sessions.

Respond to urgent complaints involving high-risk situations in licensed operations.

Carry out any additional responsibilities as assigned to support unit operations.

Qualifications:

Knowledge of Texas laws related to child care regulation and child welfare.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to build and maintain effective professional relationships.
Competence in enforcing regulations pertaining to child-care facilities.
Ability to evaluate facility operations based on agency directives for child-care management.
Capacity to collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Skill in managing tense situations with diplomacy.
Self-motivated with strong organizational and prioritization skills.
Familiarity with basic office equipment, including camera and AV tools.
Willingness to travel as needed.
