Role Overview
The Accountant II is responsible for a variety of accounting functions, including the analysis, reconciliation, and verification of assigned general ledger accounts and accounting systems.

This position plays a crucial role in both internal and external audits, providing guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff, and acting as a liaison to both internal and external stakeholders.

Specific responsibilities may vary based on departmental needs.


Key Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, addressing inquiries and discrepancies.

- Serve as a bridge between the Accounting department and internal clients.

- Conduct thorough analyses, reviews, and audits of assigned programs, processes, or accounting functions (such as payroll, accounts payable, grants, etc.).

- Review and analyze financial statements to detect errors, misstatements, or unrecorded transactions.

- Maintain documentation and promptly resolve identified issues.

- Provide guidance to junior staff on issue resolution and collaborate with internal departments and external clients to identify, research, and resolve discrepancies.

- Coordinate external audits, preparing schedules and serving as a liaison with internal clients and external auditors.

- Gather and compile data from various sources, preparing and maintaining periodic and ad-hoc reports.

- Review and analyze reports to identify errors, misstatements, or unrecorded transactions, implementing necessary corrections.

- Perform additional duties as assigned.

- Prepare journal, payroll, and/or general ledger entries, ensuring documentation is maintained and timely payments/remittances are processed.

- Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations, as well as departmental standards.

- Review entries made by junior staff for accuracy and timeliness.


Qualifications
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant accounting experience may be required based on specific assignments (e.g., Grant Accounting, Payroll, Budgets).

- At least 5 years of accounting experience is required, with a preference for candidates with healthcare experience.

- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.

- Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the necessary skills, knowledge, and abilities to perform essential job functions, meeting any required state or federal certification standards.

In alignment with our commitment to pay transparency, we share the base salary range for this position, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses.

Final salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, jurisdictional requirements, skills, education, and experience.
