We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Program Support Specialist to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. As a Program Support Specialist, you will provide technical support to departmental faculty members, convey programmatic information, and work with various stakeholders to ensure the smooth operation of our programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to faculty members, including copying and distributing course materials and correspondence
  • Convey programmatic information related to policies and procedures
  • Work with Lead Administrators, faculty, and office staff to perform ongoing activities of the department
  • Coordinate departmental faculty activities, create spreadsheets, and perform data entry
  • Draft, proofread, and edit documents, as well as assist with committees and other duties assigned
  • Maintain key control, fixed assets, surplus, and other fiscal tasks assigned by Lead Administrators

Requirements

  • Previous experience providing technical support in an academic or professional office environment
  • Experience with computer software applications, including Microsoft Suites and Google Suites
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for positive interactions with clients
  • Ability to manage confidential files and materials
  • Ability to work with detailed information and maintain attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with multiple deadlines
  • Strong competency in writing, grammar, composition, and proofreading
  • Demonstrated proficiency with software such as MS Word and Excel
  • Experience with Windows Operating System, internet browsers, and scheduling software

Preferred Qualifications

  • Higher education coursework demonstrating knowledge of collegiate programs
  • Experience supporting higher education academic programs or knowledge of the operations of an academic office
  • Knowledge of university policies and procedures
  • Working knowledge of HokieMart, Chrome River, CashNet, and the Banner system
