Position Title: Teacher I

Department: Early Childhood Programs

Compensation: $18.50 per hour

Sign-on Bonus: $500.00

Employment Type: Full-time with a comprehensive benefits package.


POSITION SUMMARY:

The Teacher I is responsible for designing and executing an early childhood education program tailored for preschool-aged children, adhering to the policies and procedures set forth by the agency. This role emphasizes the importance of fostering school readiness, engaging parents, and ensuring the well-being and safety of the children entrusted to our care. Under the guidance of the Teacher III, the Teacher I will support program operations in alignment with the goals and intended outcomes of DCP. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor. A Preschool CDA or equivalent must be obtained within two years of employment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Effective Teaching Practices: Assist in the implementation of the High Scope curriculum, utilizing agency resources and feedback from specialists.
  • Ensure classroom practices are developmentally appropriate and conducive to children's learning.
  • Utilize data from COR Advantage to track and plan classroom experiences, ensuring ongoing child assessment is timely and thorough.

  • Create a welcoming atmosphere for parents, encouraging their involvement in their children's educational journey.
  • Collaborate with the classroom team to implement recommendations from specialists and consultants.

  1. Learning Environments:
  • Maintain constant supervision of children, particularly during transitions.
  • Ensure all learning areas are engaging and reflective of children's interests.
  • Conduct daily safety checks of classroom and playground areas, addressing any hazards immediately.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and aesthetically pleasing environment for children.

  1. Observation, Analysis, Planning, and Documentation:
  • Accurately enter data weekly into ChildPlus and COR Advantage software.
  • Assist in conducting developmental assessments with parental input within the required timeframe.
  • Complete documentation punctually, ensuring clarity and objectivity.

  1. Communication:
  • Conduct a minimum of two home visits and two parent conferences annually.
  • Communicate children's progress and needs to parents through various channels.
  • Ensure consistent communication among classroom staff for effective planning and follow-up.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding family information.
  • Engage in outreach efforts to ensure full enrollment.

  • Stay informed about and comply with all agency policies and procedures.
  • Supervise substitutes and volunteers in accordance with agency standards.
  • Maintain professional boundaries with families and staff.
  • Serve as a role model by making sound decisions and seeking opportunities for professional growth.
