Position Overview

ROLE SUMMARY:

The Educational Support Specialist collaborates closely with the lead educator to design, organize, and execute all classroom activities and excursions. This role also fosters parental involvement through meetings, home visits, and participation in parent gatherings, while promoting volunteer engagement within the classroom.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist the lead educator in the design and preparation of classroom activities and field trips.
  2. Document observations of children and support the educator in developing and implementing programs tailored to meet the physical, social, emotional, and educational needs of the children, utilizing outcome reports and IEPs in planning.
  3. Prepare and oversee healthy meals and snacks as required by the program.
  4. Contribute to the upkeep of the center, including equipment and supplies.
  5. Serve as a bus monitor in accordance with licensing requirements when necessary.
  6. Complete necessary programmatic and agency reports.
  7. Support the educator with home visits, on-site assessments, and parent conferences; collaborate with the educator and parents to create individualized plans for children based on assessments and observations.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience and Skills:

  • Less than one year of experience in a childcare environment is required.
  • Experience in early childhood education settings.
  • Ability to plan for individual needs.

Skills:

  • Strong listening abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant software.
  • Effective communication with young children.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and apply written procedures.

Education and Knowledge:

  • Current Child Development Associate (CDA) credential and pursuing a college degree.
  • Familiarity with Head Start Performance Standards is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Child Care Licensing Regulations.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.

Other Requirements:

  • Flexibility in scheduling is essential.
  • Must pass all required background checks.
  • Must possess a current Criminal History Record Check (C.H.R.C.).
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance are required.
