Job Summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a highly skilled Emergency Department Patient Registration Representative to join our team. As a key member of our patient access team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth registration process for patients visiting our emergency department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet patients and coordinate patient flow to reduce wait times
  • Assist patients with intake processes and ensure all necessary demographic and billing information is obtained and entered in the computer system timely and accurately
  • Process walk-in patients and visitors, confirming eligibility and verifying insurance benefits
  • May schedule appointment times using computerized scheduling programs and explain financial responsibilities for services received, payment options, and collection procedures to patients and/or parties responsible for payment
  • Counsel patients regarding insurance benefits and recommend alternative sources of payment and/or financial assistance when appropriate
  • Accept payments and co-pays and communicate effectively with insurance companies, external agencies, patients, physicians, and team members
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • 1+ years of customer service experience
  • Ability to work any full-time shift between the hours of 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM, including the flexibility to work overtime and weekends based on business need
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
