Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Security Officer to join our team at Central Maine Medical Center. As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our patients, visitors, and employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol the medical center complex, including all buildings and grounds, to provide a visible deterrence against criminal and prohibited activity.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to all calls for service, ensuring the safety and security of our patients, visitors, and employees.
  • Ensure only authorized personnel are admitted onto hospital premises.
  • Assure orderly, safe, and efficient access and parking for patients, visitors, and employees as needed.
  • Assist motorists who become stranded on hospital property.
  • Perform dispatcher responsibilities, responding to emergency and alarm calls in a timely manner.
  • Write accurate, clear, and legible incident reports and documents investigative steps and results.
  • Conduct searches, at the request of staff, when reasonable suspicion has been established, to provide a safe environment for patients, visitors, and employees.
  • Perform services to departments/practices and patients to ensure safe handling of monies.
  • Assist with patient lifting/moving as requested, and at the direction of clinical staff.
  • Escort customers and employees as needed and requested.
  • Operate Security Department vehicles and bicycle in a safe and efficient manner at all times.
  • Monitor the hospital using electronic security equipment, including closed-circuit television, alarms, and HUGS infant security system.
  • Comply with and enforce all organizational policies and procedures as assigned by Administration and the Security Director.
  • Process deceased patients.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities as requested.
  • Perform switchboard responsibilities as directed.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, identifying each patient's age-specific needs and promoting a secure environment.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, interacting with all individuals in a consistent manner, providing attention, support, and assistance to foster an environment of exceptional personal service.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Current, active Maine Driver's License with no court-imposed restrictions.
  • Must meet the criteria for evaluating vehicle operator suitability.
  • Must clear security checks, including no convictions for offenses that reflect behavior unsuited for security and no convictions for violations of ME traffic laws that reflect abuse of intoxicating or impairing substances, or regard for public safety or general disregard for public law.
