Job Title:

Managing Director Sustainability Accelerator

Job Summary:

The Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability is seeking a Managing Director to lead the Sustainability Accelerator's Flagship Destination programs in Industry, Electricity, and Grid Systems. The successful candidate will have a strong background in industry, electricity, and grid systems, and will be responsible for developing and implementing the Flagship Destination's vision, strategy, and goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development and implementation of the Flagship Destination's vision, strategy, and goals
  • Work with faculty and other internal and external leaders to define the landscape, whitespace, and barriers in the flagship destination
  • Oversee the grantmaking process and provide ongoing support to Accelerator-funded research teams
  • Develop Stanford's connections with the global flagship ecosystem, including workshops, convenings, and developing new ways to engage the international community
  • Manage and direct the development, implementation, administration, and evaluation of programs or functions
  • Act as the subject matter expert for the School/unit and/or the university regarding the interpretation, implementation, and compliance with policies and regulations
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and ten years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to influence and motivate constituencies
  • Demonstrated excellent planning, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound business decisions using good business judgment and innovative and creative problem-solving
  • Demonstrated ability to manage financial, organizational, and staff resources
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to cultivate professional and business partnerships
  • Demonstrated network and relationships in industry, electricity, and grid systems, and related ecosystems
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in science, engineering, environment, sustainability, or related discipline and ten years of experience leading complex organizations
  • Start-up and scale-up leadership experience is highly desirable
