Job Summary

Zobility is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Hardware Engineering team in Indianapolis, IN. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the design, development, and integration of advanced mechanical systems for airborne, shipborne, and ground vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop new mechanical products and test hardware, as well as improve existing products.
  • Utilize mechanical engineering expertise during the proposal and concept evaluation, product development, production, and qualification testing phases of new product design.
  • Create design solutions that meet product requirements using 3-D CAD modeling software.
  • Support production, integration, and testing, and develop solutions that leverage commercial off the shelf (COTS) products paired with custom hardware.
  • Perform design reviews, equipment integration, profiling, and testing, and provide leadership on mechanical issues to the project team.
  • Collaborate with systems, electrical, and test engineers to ensure successful project outcomes.
Requirements
  • Must be a US Citizen with ability to obtain a DoD Secret level clearance.
  • Ability to work onsite at our Indianapolis, Indiana facility with an Integrated Product Team.
  • A minimum of eight years professional work experience required.
  • Experience in the design, integration, or testing of mechanical components and assemblies.
  • Competent using 3-D CAD Modeling Tools (CREO preferred).
  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, (ASME Y14.5 standards).
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with ability to be adaptable to changing priorities and assignments.
  • Experience capturing key characteristics & requirements for systems.
  • Performing trade studies.
  • Must be a self-starter, a quick learner, and be able to function in a dynamic environment, and have good time management skills.
  • Must have strong teaming skills, and good communication skills.
  • Proficient at one or more of Aircraft Structures Design, Ground Structures Design, Electronics Packaging, or Platform Integration.
  • Engineering Documentation Practices: Proficient.
  • Environmental. Testing: Competent.
  • Environmental Design: Proficient.
  • Mfg. Methods: Proficient.
  • Requirements: Proficient.
Preferred Skills
  • Design, integration, or test experience/understanding of any combination.
  • Airborne podded systems.
  • Airborne armament equipment or alternate mission equipment.
  • Cockpit displays.
  • Avionics.
  • Radar Systems.
  • Mobile Ground Systems.
  • Ground Vehicle Structures.
  • Custom/COTS Electronics including wires, relays, and analog electronics.
  • Design for human factors / safety.
  • Prototyping and agile methodology (quick turn solutions).
  • Understanding manufacturing / fabrication of non-exotic materials.
  • Understanding of structural design.
  • CREO skills or ability to come up to speed quickly.
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or related Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) degree program.
