Job Overview

OverBytes IT Solutions is in search of an IT Support Field Service Specialist / Network Administrator. This role is crucial for ensuring the design and integrity of client systems, which includes both customer-provided and hosted software. The specialist will provide technical assistance primarily for system and network inquiries, as well as escalated end-user and application support issues.

OverBytes serves as the IT service provider for numerous Dental Practices in the surrounding areas.

Qualifications and Skills:

Applicants should possess experience with active directory and network management for small to medium-sized enterprises. A high level of motivation and adaptability to a fast-paced, evolving environment is essential. Candidates are expected to have skills in installing network, audio, and video cabling, along with proficiency in using basic tools required for these tasks.

Key Skills Include:

  • Ability to diagnose technical issues effectively.
  • Awareness of all key IT services provided by the organization.
  • Understanding of support tools and techniques, and how technology is leveraged to deliver IT services.
  • Capability to climb ladders, install necessary cabling, and use tools proficiently (e.g., drills, screwdrivers).
  • Strong knowledge of the physical layout of network equipment.
  • Proficiency in general office applications.
  • Excellent organizational, presentation, and customer service skills.
  • Interpersonal skills including communication, active listening, and customer care.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to rapid changes.
  • Self-motivated with the capacity to work independently or collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • A minimum of 2 years of IT experience.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide IT support for internal systems and network infrastructure issues.
  • Assist with issues related to Dental Practice Management Software.
  • Deliver support services for Microsoft technologies: Windows Server, Exchange, SQL, Hyper-V, etc.
  • Offer technical services and support at the network level, including WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, and security.
  • Administer hosted and cloud solutions for clients.
  • Support disaster recovery solutions.
  • Provide remote access solution support: VPN, Terminal Services, etc.
  • Maintain documentation for all computer systems and network infrastructure.
  • Communicate with clients as necessary, keeping them informed of incident progress and any impending changes.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Escalate service or project issues that cannot be resolved within agreed service levels.
  • Maintain business awareness, specifically understanding how IT relates to the customer’s business strategy and goals.
  • Travel to various client locations as required.
  • Follow a daily schedule established through the dispatch process.
  • Work through project tickets and phases as assigned by a Service Manager.
  • Stay updated with current and emerging technologies by reviewing IT publications and online resources.
  • Document internal processes and procedures related to job responsibilities.
  • Responsible for logging time and expenses as they occur.
  • Participate in staff meetings as required.
