Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Infection Prevention Programs: Design, implement, and evaluate infection prevention programs to ensure a safe and healthy environment for residents and staff.
  • Conduct Surveillance and Investigations: Utilize epidemiologic principles to conduct surveillance and investigations to identify and prevent the spread of infections.
  • Provide Leadership and Education: Provide leadership, supervision, and educational principles on infection prevention and control for staff, ensuring they have the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their duties effectively.
  • Develop and Implement Staff Development Programs: Plan, organize, implement, and evaluate educational programs for all nursing home staff based on resident needs and to include all mandated and necessary training and education for the safe and effective operation of the home.
  • Ensure Compliance and Quality: Ensure all staff have access to Relias for orientation and on-going training, recordkeeping, and notification regarding issues of non-compliance, and provide hands-on nursing care as necessary, as directed and allowed based on IP's scope of licensure.
Requirements
  • Current licensure in the State of Illinois as a Registered Nurse - RN.
  • Certification in Infection Control and Epidemiology or Certification of the completion of the "Nursing Home Infection Preventionist Training Course" by CDC.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in Long-Term Care.
  • Minimum of 1 year in a nursing supervisory role.
  • Current CPR certification.
