Job Summary:
This position primarily involves work on C-130 and other fixed-wing aircraft.

Aircraft Maintenance Technicians are responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and monitoring aircraft and their systems, including structure, landing gear, flight surfaces, engines, and electrical systems.

Technicians will receive technical guidance from team leads or supervisors, who may be more experienced mechanics, and may also be assigned as team leads based on their skills and capabilities.

Utilizing hand tools, power tools, and machinery, technicians will perform assigned tasks efficiently. They will read and interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and technical data to determine the best methods for maintaining and repairing malfunctioning aircraft.

Avionics Technicians will similarly inspect, diagnose, repair, and monitor electrical systems and components as required.

Specific training and certification may be mandated by relevant maintenance instructions.



Duties/Responsibilities:


Maintain and repair aircraft components, including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, and fuel systems.


Work involves:

replacing or repairing worn or damaged components using hand tools and testing equipment; removing engines from aircraft, disassembling and inspecting parts for defects, and reassembling engines.

Adjust and repair electrical wiring systems and aircraft accessories, perform maintenance inspections, and carry out various tasks to service aircraft.

Utilize technical knowledge to identify equipment malfunctions and restore operational efficiency.

Perform jacking and towing of aircraft, ensuring all work is completed satisfactorily, and may service engines and airframe components to maintain safe operating conditions.

May be required to document work in aircraft logs and records.

Prioritize workload to meet project schedules.

Perform other qualified duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of safe working practices and procedures.
Ability to plan and schedule maintenance tasks.
Requires technical knowledge of aircraft and machinery.
Strong mechanical aptitude to provide technical direction in maintenance areas.
Ability to communicate effectively with personnel at all levels.
Proficiency in computer usage.

Must possess knowledge of military publications, blueprints, and schematics.

Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures is essential.

Must have a valid US State driver's license and the ability to read and interpret data.

Ability to obtain a Government flight line driver's license and a secret security clearance.



Education, Experience and Certifications Required:
High School diploma or GED.
Commercial derivative aircraft require A&P certification.

Relevant experience in aircraft maintenance, inspection, and operations is preferred.

Experience with specific aircraft types may be required.

Demonstrated ability to utilize technical publications and maintain aircraft logs.

Mechanical support roles require knowledge of aircraft modifications and repairs.

Electrical and Avionic positions require knowledge of electrical theory and specialized tools.


Other desired experience:
Two years of experience with NAWC/NAVAIR. Knowledge of supply and logistics policies is beneficial.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift 25-40 pounds with assistance.
Travel may be required occasionally.

Work environment may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, with most time spent in an office or shared space.

The noise level may vary, and occasional exposure to fuel fumes may occur.
